Chinese satellite image data from Austria

12.06.2017

In October last year our Faculty's Department of Geography and Regional Research and the Satellite Surveying and Mapping Application Center of the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation of the People’s Republic of China signed a technical cooperation agreement.

Under this agreement the University of Vienna is granted access to data covering Austria of China’s first civilian stereo mapping satellite ZY-3. The resolution of the images is on average 2.8 m (panchromatic) and 5.8 m (multispectral).

Via a cloud platform on a server of the Department of Geography and Regional Research worldwide metadata can be queried and data for Austria can be downloaded free of charge.
