The Anniversary Fund of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) was established in 1966 to mark the bank’s 150th anniversary. Since then, it has provided a total of 9,900 projects in basic research – and up to 2003 also in applied research – with funding of some EUR 775 million.
Primarily, funds granted by the OeNB Anniversary Fund are used to pay the personnel costs of young researchers. In Social Sciences and Humanities the funding is limited to a maximum of 125.000 Euro for 24 months (free choice of subject). In general:
- The applicant must have completed a doctoral program before submitting a funding application
- The research center must be a public-benefit, nonprofit research institution headquartered in Austria
- Research work is carried out (mainly) in Austria
