14.09.2017

Deadline: 14 Sep 2017

For young researchers with PhD or at least four years of research experience.

FYI: The Research Service offers a full proposal-check for scientists who want to apply for a research stay at the UNIVIE. Proposals need to be sent to Research Service not later than 18 Aug 2017.

The goal of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (IF) is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers, wishing to diversify their individual competence in terms of skill acquisition through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility (between academic and non-academic sector).

Individual Fellowships provide opportunities to acquire and transfer new knowledge and to work on research and innovation in a European context (EU Member States and Associated Countries) or outside Europe. The scheme particularly supports the return and reintegration of researchers from outside Europe who have previously worked here. It also develops or helps to restart the careers of individual researchers that show great potential, considering their experience.

There are two types of Individual Fellowships:

1. European Fellowships

European Fellowships are held in EU Member States (MS) or Associated Countries (AC) and are open to researchers coming to Europe or moving within Europe to carry out research projects for the duration of 1-2 years.

  • [ST] Standard
  • [RI] Return and reintegration of researchers into a longer term research position in Europe, including in their country of origin, is supported via a separate multi-disciplinary reintegration panel of the European Fellowships.
  • [CAR] Support to individuals to resume research in Europe after a career break (CAR), e.g. after parental leave, is ensured via a separate multi-disciplinary career restart panel of the European Fellowships.
  • [SE] Researchers seeking to work on research & innovation projects in an organisation from the non-academic sector are supported via a separate multi-disciplinary society and enterprise panel (SE) of the European Fellowships.

2. Global Fellowships

Global Fellowships are based on a secondment to a third country (i.e. not a MS or AC) for 1-2 years and a mandatory 12 month return period to a European host.
