[CALL] FFG Spin-off Fellowship

For researchers to further develop early-stage technologies etc. with the aim of starting a spin-off company.

A new call of the FFG Spin-off Fellowship started in May, the deadline to submit proposals is 14.09.2022 at 12:00. With this programme, the FFG supports start-up projects at Austrian research institutions from all disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences and cultural studies. The programme helps researchers to develop research results further into a marketable product or service at an early stage. 

About the fellowship

IP: The background technologies and research results must be owned by the University.

Funding period: 12 to 18 months

Funding amount:  min. 100,000€ and max. 500,000€.

The funded Fellows are employed 100% at the University of Vienna for the duration of the funding. Fellows need at least a BA and a professor or group leader who will provide in-kind mentoring and support for the project. Individuals or teams can be funded.

UNIVIE's Research Service has organized a training to support applicants in the preparation of their proposal. The main points that this training will cover are:

- Business model canvas

- Budget calculation

- Intellectual property

- 1-on-1 counseling (upon request)

- Review of proposals and budget (provided by TTO & INiTS)

- Pitching training for 2nd phase (TBA)

Inform Techtransfer Managers intention to apply

Registration for training

- 8th August:

Submit 1st proposal draft (Budget and proposal review by KE&NF team & INiTS)

Letter of recommendation from the Host

- 29th August:

Individual IP commercialization agreement

Declaration of support from the research institution

Proposal submission approved by the Rectorate
