[CALL] MSCA4Ukraine: Funding programme launched to support Ukrainian researchers

09.01.2023

Deadlines: tentatively set at 11 Nov 2022, 9 Dec 2022, and 9 Jan 2023

For displaced Ukrainian researchers to continue their work at (non-)academic organisations in EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries.

On 28 September 2022, the MSCA4Ukraine call for proposals was published on the MSCA4Ukraine website, along with application guidelines. Under this call, Ukrainian researchers can apply for a fellowship of 6 to 24 months, which offers them the opportunity to continue their work at a host institution in an EU Member State or a country associated to Horizon Europe, while preparing them to return to Ukraine at a later stage.

  • Researchers of all career stages (postdocs and PhD students) with Ukrainian nationality who have been displaced from Ukraine since 24 February 2022 or who intend to flee Ukraine, as well as stateless researchers who were living in Ukraine on 24 February 2022, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted with a host institution in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country on behalf of the applicant. The funding amount is based on the flat rates of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Networks or Postdoctoral Fellowships.
  • The "MSCA4Ukraine" programme is funded with 25 million EUR by the MSCA Actions and implemented by a consortium consisting of the European University Association (EUA), the Scholars at Risk Europe network and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
  • The programme will be officially launched on 6 October during an online information event. Applications can be submitted from 24 October onwards on three cut-off dates.
  • Advice on submitting an application to "MSCA4Ukraine" is available from the "Scholars at Risk Europe" office at Maynooth University.
