Sarah Haghjoo, PhD student of Christian L. Lengauer at the Department of Mineralogy and Crystallography, has planned to start her research stay at the UNBC in October. She will mainly work with Hossein Kazemian primarily to test adsorption efficiencies of coal fly ash (CFA) derived zeolites from her ongoing laboratory research.
The main objective of her PhD project is to develop efficient; ecofriendly and inexpensive zeolite-type adsorbents for removal of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as herbicides, pesticides like glyphosate from contaminated aqueous media.
