Crystal structure of anthropogenic Ca2(OH)(AsO4)·2H2O found in the Clara mine, Black Forest, Germany

Abstrakt: The arsenate compound Ca₂(OH)(AsO₄)·2H₂O, known from studies of the system Ca-As-O-H and reported to be stable in the pH range 11-12 (Bothe & Brown 1999, 2002), had a previously unknown unit cell (unindexed powder diffraction pattern ICDD-PDF 18-289) and crystal structure. Its formula was given in the various literature as 4CaO·As₂O₅·5H₂O, Ca₃(AsO₄)₂·Ca(OH)₂·4H₂O, or Ca₄(OH)₂(AsO₄)₂·4H₂O. (...)
