The crystal structure of dicerium tetrachromate dihydrate, Ce 2(CrO4)4.2H2O, was analyzed using single-crystal x-ray diffraction analysis. It was found that the crystal structure of the compound was built from isolated CrO4 tetrahedra and isolated Ce(O,H2O) polyhedra. The average Ce-O bond length was found to be 2.358 A° while the bond length of Cr-O was 1.651 A°. The results show that the maximum deviation from an ideal tetrahedral O-Cr-O angle is 1.81°.
