General

As part of its “internationalisation at home” strategy, the University of Vienna is funding activities for a “joint classroom” in order to make international experiences and networks accessible to those studentsfor whom a longer visit abroad is not possible for either financial, professional or family reasons. The “joint classroom” is also intended to strengthen collaborations with partner universities where there is collaboration across the board.

Target group

Academics of the University of Vienna with research contacts with the strategic partner universities.

Object of funding

Classes at the University of Vienna which could be taught in the SS 2018 or WS 2018/19 in collaboration/networked with an appropriate class at one of the strategic partner universities of the
University of Vienna (University of Chicago, Hebrew University of Jerusalem).The networking should be undertaken in a short travel phase (c. 1 week) to the partner university, during which the students can establish contact with the students at the partner university.Further networking can be facilitated through the following activities, for example:
‐ Joint online classes between the UV and the strategic partner university (webinars)
‐ Networking between participants at both universities via e‐mail/ Skype/ Moodle/ video conferencing, e.g. to prepare a joint presentation during the travel phase.

The available funding should, in general, be used to cover travel costs for the course leader. However, assistance with travel costs/grants for participating students can also be funded.


Amount of funding available

3,500 Euro per class; up to 4 classes will be funded Applications for additional funding can be submitted to other institutions.
