The Teaching Award 2025 in the Study Program 28 (Earth Sciences, Meteorology-Geophysics, and Astronomy) of the Faculty goes to Oliver Hahn, Agata Wislocka, and Bodo Ziegler for their course "Cosmology." In the Study Program 29 (SPL 29 - Geography), the Teaching Award was awarded to the teaching team of the Physiogeographical Field Practice in Kaunertal, Janek Walk and Philipp Marr. The awards are each endowed with 3,000 euros; during a faculty event on June 12, 2025, the Teaching Awards were handed over to the winners and tutors. Congratulations and thanks to all participants for their outstanding submissions!
In 2025, the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography, and Astronomy introduced the new Teaching Award, initiated by the Rectorate, in specific categories. The six-member Jury for the study programme 28 and the study programme 29 had a challenging task in selecting the winning teams from the nominated excellent courses according to the award criteria.
Cosmology and the Kaunertal
The winners of the SPL 28 category "Teaching – Assessment – Feedback: Well Coordinated" are Oliver Hahn, Agata Wislocka, and Bodo Ziegler, along with tutor Katharina Porod, for their course VU Cosmology. The second place was awarded to Eugen Libowitzky and Christian Lengauer, with tutors Arthur John Buss and Alina Mayer, for their course VU Einführung in die Erzmineralogie.
In the SPL 29 category "Guiding and Supporting Self-Study," Janek Walk and Philipp Marr, with tutor Hannah Andlinger, won first place with the Physiogeographische Geländepraktikum im Kaunertal. Simon Bunchuay-Peth, with the seminar SE Open Minds for Global Change and Sustainability II achieved second place. The award ceremony took place during a faculty event on June 12, 2025.
