- Abstract
A double-side triol functionalized Cr-centered Anderson type polyoxotungstate, K3[Cr((OCH2)3CCH2OH)2W6O18]·3.5H2O (CrW6-(tris-CH2OH)2) and the first dichromium(III)-substituted metatungstate, NaK6[H3Cr2W10O38(H2O)2]·6H2O (Cr2W10), were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction anal., elemental anal. and IR spectroscopy. CrW6-(tris-CH2OH)2 demonstrates that double-side functionalization is possible even in the case when the parent inorg. anion exhibits only three protons in the solid state. Cr2W10 represents the first example of a di-substituted metatungstate anion [H2W12O40]6-. The evidence for the existence of the intact CrW6-(tris-CH2OH)2 and Cr2W10 in soln. and their exact stoichiometric compn. was obtained from electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry.
