Abstract

The dwarf spheroidal galaxies around the Milky Way (MW) belong to the

most poorly understood class of astronomical objects and serve as the

most challenging targets of astrophysical research for the reasons of

cosmology, evolution of satellite galaxies, faintest dwarf galaxies, and

accretion history of the MW. In order to yield a deeper insight into

these perspectives, numerical simulations from cosmological to galactic

scales and semi-analytical galaxy models have been undertaken by

numerous authors which are discussed here. Furthermore, a new

comprehensive chemo-dynamical approach is presented and its results are

highlighted.
