Abstract

In the context of an interdisciplinary research project at the University of Vienna a multimedia application was developed. It offers scientists an interactive tool to access a Buddhist temple complex in the North-West of India (Himachal Pradesh). The developed 3D-model is the key component of this application as it contributes a spatial representation that is a superior to a 2D one. In addition, the QTVR-panoramas can also be used. They build connections to the archives in order to provide detailed information about the temples. The following chapter describes the concept and implementation process of this project. Along with the description of the basis data used, the workflow and the media used, the single application elements and problem areas are illustrated. Finally, suggestions for possible development and improvement of the application are provided.
