Additional Science

Abstract

Space experiments which are aiming towards asteroseismology and the detection of exoplanets, like corot (or most, brite-constellation and kepler), are designed to deliver high precision photometric data. Obviously, these satellites can be used also for other purposes than for the primary science goals. In addition, many other targets can or will be automatically observed simultaneously with the primary targets. As a consequence, fascinating possibilities for additional science projects emerge which sometimes are also called in the literature parallel, secondary or ancillary science. In the case of corot, a dedicated working group was established with the goal to contribute any useful information to the project which may help to optimize the scientific return of the mission.
