Abstract

A small artificial road-construction outcrop of Gaweinstal in Lower Austria yielded an unusual assemblage of molluscs and vertebrates in Lower Pannonian fluvial deposits of the Hollabrunn-Mitelbach-Formation. The composition of the mollusc fauna reveals a very complex mixing from at least three older strata resulting in a biostratigraphically condensed assemblage.
