- Abstract
Hydrothermally synthesized crystal structures of a- (I) and ß-cesium scandium bis[hydrogen arsenate(V)], (II), CsSc(HAsO 4)2, were investigated using single-crystal x-ray diffraction analysis. It was found that charge balancing Cs+ cations were located in a system of three intersecting tunnels in compound (I) and in tunnels parallel to the a axis in (II). It was also found that Cs and Sc atoms were situated on inversion centers. The results show that hydrogen bonding in both the compounds was very strong due to high bond strength of HPO4 group.
