Gender Equality
The Faculty actively supports the increase of the number of female employees on all levels of scientific positions.
In doing so, it particularly follows the “bei Stellenbesetzungen zu beachtende gleichbehandlungsrechtliche Vorgaben” (gender equality guidelines to be considered for staffing) of the University of Vienna.
The Faculty currently runs two projects to promote gender equality:
Within the framework of the faculty's gender and diversity initiative, network meetings, workshops and visibility campaigns are organised; these as well as other events, funding opportunities and news are communicated via a mailing list.
UNIVIE Career Advancement
The Division of Culture & Gender Equality also offers career advancement programmes for female* predoctoral researchers (doc:muv), postdoctoral researchers (Franziska Seidl support programme; postdoc:muv) and prospective female* professors as well as the Mobility & Care Fund for academic staff with childcare obligations. The University of Vienna also supports childcare (including FleKuKi - free flexible short-term childcare three times a year and childcare during holidays).

Discontinued programs
The Faculty developed in 2010 the following project, which has since then been provided successfully. In 2013 a university-wide pilot run began; since 2019 the UNIVIE awarded the Marie Jahoda Grant. In 2024, this programme was replaced by the Franziska Seidl funding program.
